Profitterals, Rocky Road Bars, and more … compliments of Carol Marie !

Hi, it’s me,  so soon you say ?  Well, yes.  I had a full 2 weeks of photographing and no way to post …. you could say I am an eager beaver.  This will be the last post from CM’s kitchen, but what a show I have for you. Today we will eye her sweets, and mimic Ivan’s pet.  But, we must not forget why we are here….to critique my work from behind the lens.

.

Shall we start with the stunner? Carols ‘Marshmallow Cookie Brownie Delight’ …  I am tickled orange about these.

We are going to learn about BOKEH today.  This word is derived from the Japanese word, boke.

Boke means blur or haze.  Bokeh has been defined as “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light”Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting—”good” and “bad” bokeh, respectively.  (I googled the definition)

The lens I am using is a Nikkor 40mm macro F2.8.  This lens typically has ‘good’ bokeh.  What do you think? other than you’d like a bite.

These are The Rocky Road Bars.  Can you see the soothing to the eye ‘ bokeh’ in the fist RR image ?   I should have opened the lens another stop, to blur even more of the background.   Because of the busyness of the photo, I find it a little distracting to see where the focus is at first glance.  The second shot is called a bird’s eye view, no bokeh.   They, the all and knowing Wizard and friends, say this is the trend now when photographing food.   I like it, but just not crazy about it…  but if that’s what you want,  I’ll shoot it !

Now we have the Profitterals.  And I helped !  I hand dipped these in the purist of white chocolate.  These were finished at their party by being sliced in half and filled with a key lime something … Delicious !

      and finally …………………………………..

We have some bokeh, a birds eye view, and a couple close ups.  These images are ok, but lack the lighting I am longing for.  Yes, they are lit, but I bet it could be done better.  Montana here I came.

Lastly, I want to show you where all the edible delights are dreamed up, whipped up, shaped up, and ready to rumble……  Here in Carols slice of Heaven;

There’s no place like home…….1906 haunted school-house, but she has a gremlin on duty 24/7
