Easter Treats, and River Forest Chocolates !

Easter is the Holiest day of the year for Christians. All over the world Christians honor and recognize Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, and His glorious promises of eternal life for all who believe in Him.  Amen!

The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. Celebrated in the early Spring, it honored the pagan Saxon goddess Eastre. When the early missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, the holiday,(since it fell around the same time as the memorial of Christ’s resurrection), was merged with the pagan celebration, and became know as Easter.

Rabbits and eggs are pagan fertility symbols. They symbolize rising fertility during this time of year.
These pagan symbols have become part of the Christian tradition. They do not take anything away from the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, but they add to the celebration.
The earliest Easter Bunny delivered eggs to children.  After a time, the real eggs were switched to chocolate eggs,  and in 2013, we have the best candy selection of the year.  So, there you have it, in an Easter Basket.

Now let me tell you about River Forest Chocolates. Handmade, dipped and dressed by Donna S, these chocolates are divine. I’m a regular now, you can tell by my muffin top.  These chocolates are on my walking route, I like to stop in for one treat … after another.

I would show you Donna’s Milk Chocolate Turtles, sprinkled with sea salt in the cioccolata belly that’s filled with a delicious, smooth, and rich caramel … but I ate them.  In fact, I ate all of these.  However, I did muster some control for a shot or two.  Lets peep, I mean peek, shall we?

What we have here are the best of the best, or the best of the worst.  I photographed other chocolates from the store, but I just couldn’t hit the nail on the head.  Today, the bar was not elevated, but that’s OK , I’ll be back, back to wine you and dine you. (i hope)

So, until next time, stop in on Donna and her ‘sweets’, you will thank me.  Donna has an undeniable talent for these most delectable delights, and not only will you love her chocolates, you will love Donna !

A ‘Good Friday’ to you, and a Happy Easter !
