Now this is a Doughnut !
‘Record shows that the Dutch were making olykoeks, or “oil cakes,” as early as the mid 19th century. These early doughnuts were simply balls of cake fried in pork fat until golden brown. Because the center of the cake did not cook as fast as the outside, the cakes were sometimes stuffed with fruit, NUTS, or other fillings that did not require cooking.’ Hence, doughnut!

I like the idea of filling the middle with fruit or nuts…yummm. Those glazed donuts are making me hungry…great shot!
OK, I thought the egg and bagel was a doughnut at first, too. Love the shot of the glazed donuts. Mmmmmm…..donuts. (Homer Simpson)
Love that doughnut. The egg? Not so much, it’s messing with my cholesterol already!
I just drove by my favorite local bakery on the way home from an evening meeting — and avoided the temptation to scarf a few donuts warm from the oven. Busken’s is our place here in the ‘Nati! Now I may have to venture back!
